Spells of sunshine for many places this afternoon but in southern counties light patchy rain and drizzle will linger. Afternoon temperatures will be between 10 and 12 degrees and southerly winds will be moderate to fresh.


A mild and windy night tonight with a little further patchy rain, drizzle and fog, mainly in the south and then towards morning along the west coast. Lowest temperatures 6 to 10 degrees in fresh to strong southerly winds.

WMO confirms 2016 as hottest year on record, about 1.1°C above pre-industrial era
The year 2016 has been confirmed as the hottest year on record, surpassing the exceptionally high temperatures of 2015, according to a consolidated analysis by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
