Mostly dry this evening with clear spells and just the odd passing shower with moderate south to southwest winds.

It will be mostly dry and clear to start, but getting cloudier as the night progresses with outbreaks of rain arriving around dawn. It will also become very windy overnight with southerly winds increasing strong to near gale force, reaching gale force on coasts. Lows of 5 to 7 degrees.

TOMORROW - Sunday 23rd February

It will be wet and windy tomorrow morning with widespread rain, heavy in many areas with some spot flooding. The rain will gradually clear during the afternoon followed by scattered blustery showers, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms possible. Strong to near gale force southerly winds will decrease fresh and gusty as the rain clears. Highs of 11 to 13 degrees.

Sunday night will bring clear spells and scattered showers, the showers heaviest and most frequent in the west with hail and isolated thunderstorms possible. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with fresh southwest winds, easing a little overnight.

Monday will be a fresh and blustery day with sunny spells and showers, some heavy with hail and isolated thunderstorms possible. Maximum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty west to southwest winds. Scattered showers will continue on Monday night, some of them heavy with hail and thunder possible. There'll be some dry and clear intervals too. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.

Tuesday: Tuesday will be another day of sunshine and showers. The showers will be mainly in the west at first, but they'll spread elsewhere as the day goes on and some will be heavy with a chance of hail. Highest temperatures will range 7 to 9 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, and gusty westerly winds. Tuesday night will be cold and mainly dry as showers mostly die out. It will be cold with frost developing. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees.

Early on Wednesday morning, rain will develop in the west and will spread eastwards across the country. It will be heavy in places with spot flooding. It will clear slowly through the evening and night. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with fresh to strong southerly winds, which will become northwesterly and ease as rain clears.

Thursday will be a brighter day with sunny spells and a few showers. Highest temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees with light to moderate north to northwest breezes.

At the moment it looks like Friday will be mainly dry, but that rain will spread eastwards through Friday night and Saturday.
