A largely dry day for most with cloudy conditions giving way to hazy sunny spells spreading from the west early this afternoon. Cloud will build from the Atlantic as we go through the afternoon with the chance of rain and drizzle in western coastal counties before nightfall. Highest temperatures of 11 to 17 degrees, coolest near Atlantic coasts. Mostly light to moderate southwesterly breezes will freshen and back southerly in western and northwestern coastal parts towards evening.
Cloud will continue to thicken tonight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing in Atlantic coastal counties and spreading eastwards overnight, followed by clear spells and scattered showers extending from the west later. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees. Light to moderate southwesterly breezes will increase moderate to fresh westerly towards morning.
Lingering rain and drizzle in the east will soon clear into the Irish Sea on Thursday morning, Otherwise there'll be a mix of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers. Some of the showers will be heavy with a chance of hail and thunder, but they will gradually retreat northeastwards and become more isolated in the evening. Feeling cooler compared to recent days, with afternoon highs of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong near coasts.
Thursday Night: Mainly dry for a time early on Thursday night, with any remaining showers in the north and northeast soon clearing, but cloud will already be starting to build from the west. Becoming cloudy nationwide with rain and drizzle pushing in from Atlantic overnight. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees, coldest in the north and east, with mainly light southwest winds backing south to southeast overnight and freshening near Atlantic coasts towards morning.
Friday: Friday will be a wet and windy day with gales on western and northern coasts. Some heavy, squally bursts of rain are possible, especially through the later afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds. Rain, heavy and squally at times, will clear eastwards on Friday night and it will become dry and clear in many parts overnight, with winds veering southwest and easing, but continuing fresh to strong near coasts. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees.
Saturday: A crisp and sunny start in the east on Saturday will give way to scattered blustery showers spreading from the west. Some of the showers will be heavy with a chance of hail and thunder, and a few could be wintry about high ground in the west early on. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in mostly moderate, occasionally fresh southwesterly winds.
Sunday: Sunday looks set to be another showery day with sunny spells. It'll be a dry, bright and crisp start to the day for many but scattered showers will soon spread from the west through the late morning and afternoon, and some will be heavy with a chance of hail and thunder again. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.
