A band of heavy rain will track northeastwards tonight, becoming confined to Ulster by morning. Clear spells and scattered showers will follow the rain from the southwest. With saturated ground conditions and high river levels, further localised flooding is possible. Blustery with moderate to fresh and gusty southeasterly winds. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees, coldest in Ulster.

TOMORROW - Friday 30th January

Rain in Ulster tomorrow morning, with frequent showers across the rest of the country. Another spell of heavy rain will move into the southeast around midday and will spread across most of Leinster during the afternoon and evening. Some thunderstorms are possible too. Other areas will see sunny spells and scattered showers. With saturated ground conditions and high river levels, further localised flooding is possible. Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, easing light to moderate. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

Friday night: Rain will affect most of Leinster early Friday night and will spread further to the north and west overnight, becoming lighter. With saturated ground conditions and high river levels, further localised flooding is possible. Parts of the west and southwest will remain largely dry with clear spells and isolated showers. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees, coldest under clear spells in the west and southwest, where frost is possible. Winds will be light to moderate and variable in direction.

Saturday: On Saturday morning, cloud and outbreaks of rain will affect areas away from the west and southwest, where there will be sunny spells and a few showers. The rain will gradually clear away to the northeast through the day and sunny spells and scattered showers will extend from the southwest. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with light to moderate, variable winds.

Saturday night: Scattered showers and clear spells at first, along with patches of mist and fog. Cloud and outbreaks of rain will move into the west and south overnight. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees with light to moderate west to southwest or variable winds, becoming fresh at times in the west and south.

Sunday: Cloud and outbreaks of rain will move northeastwards across the country, with dry and bright conditions following from the southwest. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees with light to moderate and variable winds.

Sunday night: A few patches of light rain in the northeast and east, but otherwise dry with long clear spells. Patches of mist and fog will form in light, variable winds. Cold with frost as temperatures fall to between -2 and +3 degrees.

Monday: Cold with mist and fog on Monday morning. It will become mostly cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle developing, mainly in eastern areas. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh easterly winds.

Monday night: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain or drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees with moderate to fresh easterly winds.

Tuesday: Remaining mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain or drizzle. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with moderate to fresh easterly winds, decreasing light to moderate.
