Cloudy for the rest of today with isolated showers dying out. Light to moderate southwest winds will back southeast and strengthen this evening as Storm Eowyn approaches, bringing rain to some parts.
Tonight, Storm Eowyn will bring severe or extreme southeasterly winds, with destructive and damaging gusts. These southeast winds will veer southwest overnight and violent storm force winds will develop along parts of the west coast. Impacts will be severe with power outages and significant disruption due to falling trees and structural damage. Wave overtopping and flooding in low lying coastal areas is possible. Rain will become widespread and locally heavy, turning to sleet and snow for a time in places. Cold initially with lows of zero to 4 Celsius but temperatures will rise through the night, reaching 9 to 11 Celsius for time.

Rain, persistent at times, will give way to scattered squally showers by midday. Afternoon highs of 5 to 8 Celsius but feeling much colder due to wind-chill. The winds will steadily ease through the afternoon and evening.
