TODAY - Saturday 22nd February

Today will be a bright day across Leinster with sunny spells and well scattered showers, these mainly in the west of the region. It will be largely dry in the east and south. Highest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees with moderate south to southwest winds.

TONIGHT

Much of tonight will be mainly dry. Rain will spread eastwards to all areas overnight. It will become very windy overnight also with southerly winds increasing strong to gale force. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees.

TOMORROW - Sunday 23rd February

Sunday morning will be wet and windy with widespread rain, heavy in many areas with some spot flooding. Rain will gradually clear eastwards through the afternoon with scattered blustery showers following, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms possible. Strong to gale force southerly winds will decrease fresh to strong, gusty southwesterly as rain clears. Highest temperatures of 11 or 12 degrees.

Overview: Unsettled with rain or showers at times. Temperatures around average for late February.

Sunday night will bring clear spells and scattered showers, the showers heaviest and most frequent in the west with hail and isolated thunderstorms possible. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with fresh southwest winds, easing a little overnight.

Monday will be a fresh and blustery day with sunny spells and showers, some heavy with hail and isolated thunderstorms possible. Maximum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty west to southwest winds. Scattered showers will continue on Monday night, some of them heavy with hail and thunder possible. There'll be some dry and clear intervals too. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.

Tuesday: Tuesday will be another day of sunshine and showers. The showers will be mainly in the west at first, but they'll spread elsewhere as the day goes on and some will be heavy with a chance of hail. Highest temperatures will range 7 to 9 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, and gusty westerly winds. Tuesday night will be cold and mainly dry as showers mostly die out. It will be cold with frost developing. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees.

Early on Wednesday morning, rain will develop in the west and will spread eastwards across the country. It will be heavy in places with spot flooding. It will clear slowly through the evening and night. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with fresh to strong southerly winds, which will become northwesterly and ease as rain clears.

Thursday will be a brighter day with sunny spells and a few showers. Highest temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees with light to moderate north to northwest breezes.

At the moment it looks like Friday will be mainly dry, but that rain will spread eastwards through Friday night and Saturday.
