The most up to date report on Global Warming has been released by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5oC, which was commissioned under the Paris Climate Change Agreement, examines projected climate change, potential impacts and associated risks of a human induced warming world.
“This Special Report demonstrates, with great scientific authority, the need for far-reaching and immediate reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The global average temperature is already more than 1°C higher than the pre-industrial era.” said World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Secretary-General Professor Petteri Taalas.
Global warming is likely to reach 1.5oC between 2030 and 2052 if it continues to increase at the current rate.
Full details, as well as summary statements, can be found on the WMO website.
