The latest series of ’10 Things to Know About’ continues on RTÉ television on Monday night, with another delve into the science and technology behind aspects of modern life in Ireland.
Following on from last year’s insights on the Irish Pollen Network and the role of the ocean on climate change, Met Éireann is once again a key contributor to the current series, with special features on advancements in weather and flood forecasting.
Looking at the topic of ‘Living with Flooding,’ next Monday’s (December 2nd) episode will feature Met Éireann’s Head of Flood Forecasting, Rosemarie Lawlor joining Amy Hassett aboard the ILV Granuaile to discuss the network of wave sensors around the Irish coastline that help to enhance ocean data collection and modelling capabilities.
The latest episode follows on from a special feature on ‘Digital Society’, in which Jonathan McCrea visited Met Éireann HQ in Glasnevin to meet Forecasting Services Manager, Dr Alan Hally and Numerical Weather Prediction expert, Eoin Whelan, and find out more about how technology and Artificial Intelligence are impacting on developments in weather forecasting.
