Buoy Records Broken
The M6 buoy recorded a record low air temperature recently. This buoy, stationed over two hundred miles west of Slyne Head, measured an air temperature of 1.4°C on the 28th of February 2018 at 21:00. The previous lowest air temperature on record at M6 was 2.0°C recorded on the 22nd of January 2013. This buoy has been operating since 2006.
The M2 buoy recorded a maximum individual wave of 9.84m on the 2nd of March 2018 at 06:00. The previous highest wave on record at M2 was 9.6m recorded on the 30th of December 2015. This buoy, anchored 20 miles east of Howth Head, has been operating since 2001.
