Met Éireann, Ireland’s National Meteorological Service, is currently recruiting for Meteorological Officer positions for the following roles across the organisation:

1. Instrumentation Engineers
2. ICT Technicians
3. Operations Officers
4. Climatology Officers

Overview

The position of Meteorological Officer (MO) within Met Éireann is one with responsibility for technical and administrative support for the activities of the organisation. Some MO roles involve shift work, covering 24/7 shifts – for example in the General Forecast Office, Flood Forecast Office, or in the Aviation Offices at some of Ireland’s airports. Staff assigned to shift roles will be in receipt of an additional shift allowance, up to 27% depending on shift pattern.

Location

MOs recruited will be assigned to positions at a range of locations, including Met Éireann Headquarters in Glasnevin, Dublin 9 and State airports across the country (Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport, Cork Airport, Ireland West Airport, Casement Aerodrome). MOs working in operational areas are regularly required to work shift duties (including night duties), covering weekends and Public Holidays. Shift work attracts a 27% shift allowance, which is paid in addition to the officer’s salary, on a fortnightly basis.
