Cloudy for most this evening with scattered showers, turning heavy at times with isolated thunderstorms. Mostly light to moderate northerly or variable winds will become fresh at times near west and southwest coasts.

TONIGHT

Tonight will stay mostly cloudy with longer spells of rain, heaviest across eastern parts of the country. Lowest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees with light to moderate northwest or variable breezes, fresh at times near western and southwestern coasts.

TOMORROW - Monday 21st July

Mostly cloudy tomorrow, Monday, with showers or longer spells of rain, heaviest over parts of Leinster and East Ulster with spot flooding possible. Showers will become more isolated towards evening, and it will brighten up across parts of the west and south. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees in light to moderate, occasionally fresh, west to northwest winds.

National Outlook

Overview: Generally mixed conditions to begin this week with showers or longer spells of, at times heavy, rain with spot flooding possible. Fewer showers by midweek.

Monday night: Any remaining rain will become increasingly confined to northeastern parts of Ulster on Monday night, with a mix of cloud, clear spells and isolated showers developing elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds, fresh to strong on northwestern coasts.

Tuesday: Some drier and brighter intervals at first on Tuesday, away from Atlantic coasts, but showers will become fairly widespread from the west through the afternoon, some of them heavy. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with light to moderate west to northwest winds. Showers will become isolated on Tuesday night and increasingly confined to western and northern coasts. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in light to moderate west to northwest winds, fresh near northwestern coastal fringes.

Wednesday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers will be less heavy than previous days and they will become isolated by evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with light to moderate northwest breezes, fresh at times on windward coasts.

Thursday will be a largely dry day overall with just the chance of a few light showers in the mix. It'll be rather cloudy to begin, but it looks like it will brighten up later in the afternoon with sunny spells gradually developing. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in mainly light westerly breezes.

Further Outlook: An Atlantic westerly regime looks set to dominate. The best of the drier and brighter weather will be in the east and south with cloudier conditions and a greater chance of rain or showers as well as breezier conditions in the west and north. Temperatures look set to remain close to the seasonal norm.
