TODAY - Monday 19th January

Clear and dry in the west and southwest this evening, but otherwise cloudy and wet with rain or drizzle turning heavy at times. Rain and drizzle will gradually clear from most areas later on but will linger in Ulster for a time. Light to moderate, variable winds.

TONIGHT

Most areas will be dry with clear spells early tonight but rain and drizzle will continue for a time in Ulster. It will become wet across Munster, Connacht and south Leinster overnight and rather windy in these areas too as fresh to strong and gusty east to southeast winds develop, with gales on southern coasts. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees early in the night, with frost and ice possible where skies remain clear.

TOMORROW - Tuesday 20th January

Rain in Munster, Connacht and south Leinster early tomorrow will move northwards through the morning and afternoon. The rain will be followed by sunny spells and showers, turning into longer spells of rain in the west and south. Isolated thunderstorms are possible too. Windy at times with fresh to strong and gusty east to southeast winds and gales on eastern and southern coasts. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees.

Tuesday night: Breezy with scattered showers or more persistent spells of rain and just limited clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, with moderate to fresh and gusty southeasterly winds.

Wednesday: Current indications are that further north will see a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, while further south will be cloudier with more persistent outbreaks of rain. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, with moderate to fresh easterly winds, stronger on southern and eastern coasts.

Wednesday night: Widespread showers or more persistent spells of rain with limited clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with light to moderate cyclonic variable winds.

Thursday: Current indications are for scattered showers with limited bright spells. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, with light to moderate southeasterly winds.

Friday: The detail is uncertain but current indications are for a breezy day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers or more persistent outbreaks of rain spreading northwards across the country. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, stronger on Atlantic coasts.
