Sunny and clear in most parts to begin today with widespread frost and icy stretches and the odd fog patch soon clearing this morning. It'll be a largely dry day with just isolated showers. Cloud will increase from the west as the day goes on, turning the sunshine hazy. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees with mostly light to moderate southerly winds.

After a dry start, outbreaks of rain will develop in the northwest and will extend across much of Ulster, Connacht and northwest Munster overnight. Remaining dry elsewhere with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of -1 to 5 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds with some frost returning under clearer skies away from the north and west.

Mostly cloudy to begin on Saturday with outbreaks of rain continuing to spread southeastwards over country on Saturday morning, becoming lighter and patchy as it does so. It will brighten up in the northwest by the afternoon with the best of the sunshine there. A few brighter spells will develop elsewhere too, but there'll be a lot of cloud overall. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in light westerly or variable winds.
